ProDe performed: Face Scanning with ArctesEva 3D and printning the model

Saturday, November 25th, 2017.
Young Prode team members produced the first printouts of scanned images of their colleagues face and head! Scanning was done by ProDe's ArtecEva 3D scanner and printing by ProDe/Idea Lab's FDM printer in monochromatic colors. Artec technology was originally developed for biometric access control. It was used in facial recognition systems. That means 3D scanners are the perfect tool for scanning the human body and faces in particular. There is no need for electromagnetic tracking, position markers or long set-up. Several photos (of the first trials) of face scan are available following the link bellow.

Scaled Rapid Prototyping by 3D printing and Similarity Method

Thursday, December 14th, 2017.
ProDe faces new challenges as it moves to create scaled prototypes of mechanical system. Seeking the solution in the Report funded by a Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation USA provides good insight. "Rapid prototyping offers an approach to getting physical models much more quickly than through conventional means. However, it becomes more difficult to construct well-scaled systems when one utilizes rapid prototypes as scaled models, mainly due to material issues."

New proposal submitted: Technology as support in modern arts

Friday, December 15th, 2017.
Faculty of Polytechnics UDG with ProDe Lab has submitted the proposal to Montenegrin ministry of Science for Co-funding of Innovative Project: The project Technology in the Function of Art, aims to create a network of arts disciplines and of applied art (graphic design, product design, fashion design, photography and multimedia) from one side and technical disciplines (polytechnics, electrical engineering and information systems) on the other side. Design technologies will provide the dimension of functionality, ergonomics and as much efficiency as possible. By utilizing the contemporary technical solutions, artwork is aimed to intrigue the combined perception of feelings in the observer (the effect of synthesis). By creating a visual identity, an ICT product will receive an additional value that will separate it from a group of the same or similar products.

Study-visit at Xihua University – China: Education and training of youth Associate and students in the field of the 3D

Wednesday, February 28th, 2018.
As a result of cooperation established in October 2016 with XIHUA University from China, students and associate from UDG will spent summer semester on study visit at Xihua University in People’s Republic of China. Their field of study will be connected with modern technologies, product design, product development and brending. These topics are currently in the spotlight of ProDe research and development programme. The purpose of this visit is to improve ProDe laboratory so that it can attract companies and new ideas into its sustainability and development, but also entrepreneurial learning among staff and students were enhanced participating in exchange. During this visit, one ProDe team member will be doing a research for MA thesis in similar discipline, related to modern architecture and industrial design. Interdisciplinary topic will bridge the gap between modern and industrial focusing on Chinese architecture and design and its comparison to Montenegrin in order to improve architectural scene. Since it will be concentrate to product design as well it will effect ProDe’s direction of future movement and sustainability. Studying at XHU students will be able to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge from their Chinese colleagues and throughout a direct cooperation with professors and assistants, to get a chance to work on different projects. ProDe is bringing a multi-cultural experience and benefits in this exchange to students with a chance to attend classes on all faculties that include application of 3D technology in all stages of creative design.
